SAN and DAS storage without enterprise overhead. The Dell PowerVault ME5212 puts 12 LFF bays, dual-active Intel Xeon controllers and 24GB of cache in 2U, scaling past a petabyte with expansion — and every data service included with no licensing to add.

The Dell PowerVault ME5212 is a 2U, 12-bay block storage array from the ME5 Next Gen family, built for small and medium businesses that need dependable SAN or DAS storage without enterprise complexity or cost. It uses a dual-active controller architecture on Intel Xeon processors with 24GB of total cache — 8GB per controller plus 16GB shared — and supports single- or dual-controller configurations, with all controllers hot-swappable. The base enclosure carries 12 3.5" drive bays that also accept 2.5" drive carriers, mixing NLSAS, 10K SAS and SSD media including FIPS self-encrypting drives. Attaching ME512, ME524 or ME584 expansion enclosures over 12Gb SAS scales the array non-disruptively to 264 drives. All data services are included with no additional licensing, managed through the HTML5 PowerVault Manager.
