PowerMax at full scale. The Dell PowerMax 8500 runs up to eight node pairs and 18PBe on Dynamic Fabric with NVMe/RDMA, consolidating open systems, mainframe, file and virtual storage — with cyber recovery, zCID intrusion detection and six nines availability.

The Dell PowerMax 8500 is the flagship of the current-generation PowerMax family and the successor to the PowerMax 8000, built for the most demanding mixed workloads requiring predictable performance and always-on availability. It scales from one to eight node pairs — up to 16 compute nodes — with cache options from 1.792TB to 7.68TB per node pair and a total effective capacity of 18PBe. Like the 2500 it is built on the Dynamic Fabric architecture with Intel Xeon Scalable processors, end-to-end NVMe, 100Gb/s InfiniBand and hardware-based data reduction, and consolidates open systems, mainframe, file and virtualised storage on a single platform. Dell positions it at up to 2x faster performance and 50% lower response times than the previous generation, with dense configurations allowing six node pairs in System Bay 1 and two more in System Bay 2.
