The prior-generation PowerMax flagship. The Dell EMC PowerMax 8000 scales to eight Bricks and 4PBe with up to 15 million IOPS and sub-100-microsecond read response — mixed open systems, mainframe and IBM i consolidation at secondary-market economics.

The Dell EMC PowerMax 8000 is the flagship of the prior-generation PowerMax family, built for the largest mission-critical workloads across mixed open systems, mainframe, IBM i, block and file environments. It scales from one to eight Bricks or zBricks, each with two 18-core 2.8GHz Intel processors yielding 72 cores and 1TB or 2TB of DDR4 cache, reaching up to 4PBe of PCIe Gen3 NVMe storage across two racks and up to 256 front-end ports. Dell rates the platform at up to 15 million IOPS, 350GB/s of bandwidth and read response times under 100 microseconds, with performance density of roughly 7.5 million IOPS per rack. System Bay Dispersion allows individual or contiguous groups of system bays to be separated by up to 82 feet from System Bay 1, easing floor-loading and layout constraints in dense data centres.
