The Dell PowerEdge XE9680L is a 2-socket, 4U direct liquid-cooled rack server purpose-built for the most demanding AI/ML and HPC workloads, including generative AI training, fine-tuning, large-scale LLM inferencing, and large-model training with massive datasets. Powered by two 5th Generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors (up to 64 cores, 350W), the system supports up to 32 DDR5 DIMM slots (up to 4TB RDIMM at 5600 MT/s), 8x U.2 NVMe SSD drives, and up to 12 PCIe Gen5 slots for flexible networking with DPU/SmartNIC support. The defining feature is 8x NVIDIA HGX GPUs fully interconnected via NVLink — either 8x H200 141GB 700W SXM5 or 8x B200 180GB 1000W SXM6 — backed by 6x Titanium-rated PSUs (2800W for H200 or 3000W for B200 configurations) with 3+3 fault-tolerant or 5+1 redundancy policies, and dedicated direct liquid cooling loops for both CPUs and GPUs.
