Product Overview
The Dell PowerEdge XE8640 is a 2-socket, 4U rack server built as a 4-way GPU platform for traditional AI training and inferencing, modeling and simulation, and other HPC applications. It supports two 5th Generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors (up to 64 cores) or two 4th Generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors (up to 56 cores) on the Intel C741 chipset, with 32 DDR5 RDIMM slots up to 4TB. Four NVIDIA H100 SXM5 GPUs are fully interconnected with NVIDIA NVLink, delivering up to 900GB/s of GPU-to-GPU bandwidth, with NVIDIA Multi-Instance GPU (MIG) available for multi-tenant environments. The XE8640 uses air cooling for the processors combined with Liquid Assisted Air Cooling for the GPUs, so no facility water is required at the rack. Storage scales to 8x 2.5" NVMe/SAS/SATA SSDs or 16x E3.S NVMe SSDs at 122.88TB, with four PCIe Gen5 x16 slots for expansion.
