The Dell PowerEdge R6715 is a 1U single-socket server built on AMD's 5th Generation EPYC 9005 series, offering up to 160 cores from one processor. It is designed for dense compute environments where a single high-core-count AMD processor outperforms — and out-licenses — a comparable dual-socket Intel configuration. Dell frames it as right-sizing memory and storage density, targeting data analytics, dense virtualization and software-defined storage. Twenty-four DDR5 DIMM slots reach 6TB of registered ECC memory. Front storage supports 10x 2.5" SAS/SATA/NVMe, 4x 3.5", or up to 20 EDSFF E3.S Gen5 NVMe drives, with an optional 2-bay rear cage taking the NVMe total to 22. Expansion covers three PCIe Gen5 slots and three 75W single-width accelerators, with two OCP NIC 3.0 slots for high-bandwidth networking. Security is handled by AMD SME and SEV alongside Dell's Silicon Root of Trust, Secure Boot, System Lockdown and FIPS-certified TPM 2.0, with iDRAC10 and Lifecycle Controller for management.
