The Dell PowerEdge R670 delivers a 67% performance increase over its predecessor from 3.2x more cores, built for organizations that need genuine two-socket power in the smallest possible rack footprint. This 1U dual-socket platform takes two Intel Xeon 6 processors at up to 144 E-cores or 86 P-cores each, with 32 DDR5 DIMM slots reaching 8TB — the same memory ceiling as the 2U R770, in half the height. Dell positions it as an open ecosystem optimized for compute workloads, tuned for high-density deployments, cloud-native applications and all-flash software-defined storage. Storage supports 8 or 10x 2.5" SAS/SATA/NVMe drives, or 8, 16 and 20-bay EDSFF E3.S Gen5 NVMe configurations with an optional 2-bay rear cage, for up to 22 NVMe drives. As with any 1U dual-socket design the trade-off is expansion: three PCIe Gen5 slots and three 75W single-width accelerators, against eight slots and double-width GPU support on the R770. Networking runs through one OCP NIC 3.0 slot supporting 1 through 400GbE, and management is iDRAC10 with Lifecycle Controller and OpenManage Enterprise.
