The Dell PowerEdge R5715 pairs a single 5th Generation AMD EPYC 9005 processor with a 2U chassis, trading the core count of the R7715 for a lower entry price and more front drive bays than the 1U R4715 alongside it. Dell describes the R4715 and R5715 pair as designed to deliver strong performance, flexibility and efficiency for small and mid-size businesses, with the R5715 aimed specifically at virtualization, medium VM density or VDI, retail video surveillance and data analytics. Front storage takes up to 12x 3.5" or 16x 2.5" SAS/SATA drives — this model is built around capacity rather than NVMe throughput, and does not carry an NVMe drive configuration. Twenty-four DDR5 DIMM slots support up to 1.5TB of registered ECC memory, and expansion covers four PCIe Gen5 slots plus two OCP 3.0 slots for 10, 25, 100 or 400GbE networking.
