286716-B22 Ultra 320 drives provide increased maximum transfer rate of the scsi bus to 320mb per second (U320). This increase in data trasnfer rate reduces SCSI bus saturation and allows SCSI devices to perform better in terms of stability, realiability, and lower cost of operation. U320 drives are backward compatible to U160, Ultra 2 devices however in order to achieve maximun trasfer rate of 320mb/sec, both the drive and controller must both be U320 capable. HP U320 80-pin hard drives ship with Universal Hot Plug trays that will fit in any HP Server Proliant (DL380, DL360, ML370, ML350) capable of supporting 80-pin 3.5" drives, even the older models. When HP drives are used in conjuction with with a SMART Array Controller and Insight Manager, the SMART capable firmware in HP hard drives enables extensive fault prediction capabilities. If potential problems develop in one of the drives, the SMART Array Controller, Insight Manager and/or SMART hard disk drive lets you know in advance so you can have the drive replaced, before it fails.
